Teaching Pilates in Paisley

Pilates in Paisley

My Pilates journey didn’t begin in Paisley, Scotland. I trained to be a Pilates teacher while I was living pretty much the opposite end of the country in sunny Brighton! Most of my training took place in London, which was great fun.

When I started teaching Pilates, I was living in a little town in Surrey where I ran my first classes. Then the opportunity to move back to my homeland of Scotland came up, and I had to shut up shop temporarily.  Now I’m 8 months into my move, and I must say I am loving teaching
Pilates in Paisley!

I started with one class on a Friday, which I launched with just 3 lovely ladies signed up. It was great, as I was lucky to have bubbly, funny and charming characters to teach! It reminded me one of the reasons I wanted to move back to Scotland was for the outgoing people, never short of a bit of banter!

I love teaching Pilates to all sorts of clients of all different shapes, sizes and ages. One thing that’s very important to me, though, is having friendly clients who I have a rapport with. I want people to enjoy coming to me for Pilates, and I also like to enjoy teaching them. I’m delighted to say that since I began teaching
Pilates in Paisley, I’ve been delighted with how wonderful the people I’ve had the pleasure to teach have been. Rarely a week goes by where we don’t get a good few laughs in class. This is exactly the sort of environment I strive to create!

After running my initial Friday classes, I was very fortunate to get in touch with a local community council who had been hoping to run Pilates classes in Paisley. I was able to take 2 classes a week for them, they took care of the advertising, and I had a room full of people to help. That went on for 10 weeks which was so much fun. I owe a lot to those classes for helping me get my name out to the community. It can be tricky spreading the word when you start teaching Pilates, and this was just the right opportunity.

I’ve been running a Wednesday class over the summer in the morning, which has been very enjoyable, and I’m thrilled some of the participants from the community classes have stuck with me. And now, as we’re getting closer to the end of summer, I’ve had the good news that I will be going part-time in my other job from December! From then, I will be free every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, which will allow me to run additional classes and teach more private lessons on those days. This will mean I can finally run evening and weekend classes so more 9-5 workers can join me on the mat, and I can share my passion for Pilates with more bodies!

Only 8 months in, and I’m loving teaching Pilates to the people of Paisley. I’m fascinated by the Pilates method and how it can completely change our movement and bodies capabilities. I hope I will get to teach that to as many of you reading as possible soon.

If you would like to join one of my classes please contact me.
